Herbal Magic at Home: 10 essential remedies to help you feel magical!

In recent years, there has been an increased interest in home remedies for various ailments. Many are turning to natural alternatives that have been passed down through generations instead of modern medicine. Today I want to explore 10 herbal remedies to incorporate into your home health arsenal or your family's daily routine. So, get comfy, grab a cookie, and let's talk HERBS!

1. Honey for Sore Throat Relief:

Honey has been used for centuries to alleviate sore throats. Scientific studies show that honey possesses antimicrobial & soothing properties, making it an effective home remedy. Mix two teaspoons of honey, a squeeze of lemon juice, and warm water to create a honey concoction. Gargle this mixture for relief from sore throat symptoms.

2. Ginger for Digestive Issues:

Ginger has long been admired for its digestive benefits. Scientific research has proven its use in reducing nausea & aiding digestion. Prepare ginger tea by steeping fresh ginger slices in hot water. Add a teaspoon of honey & a squeeze of lemon for added flavor. Ginger is potent so add only a few fresh slices. I also make a quart of this when I have a bug & keep it cold in my fridge. I like to use Peppermint with mine.

3. Peppermint Oil for Headache Relief:

Peppermint oil is known to provide relief from tension headaches due to its menthol content, which acts as a natural muscle relaxant. Dilute a few drops of peppermint oil with a carrier oil such as almond or coconut oil, and gently massage it onto your temples, nape of the back of your neck, & behind your ears. I honestly use Peppermint like most people use Lavender; I use the stuff in everything!

4. Garlic for Common Cold:

Garlic is a potent antiviral and antibacterial, making it a go-to remedy for cold symptoms. Crush a clove of garlic and mix it with warm water or herbal tea. Consume this mixture for its immune-boosting properties. Yes, it is not the best tasting, but it will have you back on your feet in no time!

5. Aloe Vera for Skin Irritations:

Aloe vera has been used for centuries to alleviate skin irritations & promote healing. Research suggests that aloe vera gel possesses anti-inflammatory & wound-healing properties. Apply fresh aloe vera gel directly to the affected area for soothing relief. We use it mostly for sunburns & heat rash because, well, I live in Texas!

6. Eucalyptus Oil for Congestion:

Eucalyptus oil is commonly used to relieve nasal congestion & sinus issues. Its active compound, eucalyptol, acts as an expectorant, aiding mucus removal. Pour a few drops of eucalyptus oil into a bowl of hot water, cover your head with a towel, and inhale the steam for relief. I use this all the time in my diffuser, I love the scent & my father is battling COPD. It is the main ingredient in our Breathe Roller Blend.

7. Chamomile Tea for Sleep Induction:

Chamomile tea has been used as a natural sleep aid for centuries. Scientific studies suggest that chamomile contains compounds that promote relaxation & improve sleep quality. Brew a cup of chamomile tea & drink it before bedtime to support restful sleep. Chamomile is great for sleep but if you're an insomniac like me then try wild lettuce instead! Goodnight Moon roller blend is what I use most of the time though.

8. Turmeric for Joint Inflammation:

Turmeric has gained popularity for its anti-inflammatory properties. Its active ingredient, curcumin, exhibits strong anti-inflammatory effects that may help reduce joint pain & inflammation. Combine a teaspoon of turmeric powder with warm milk & honey to create a comforting golden milk beverage. If you're like me & dislike Turmeric, give our Magic Potion Cream a try!

9. Apple Cider Vinegar for Digestive Health:

Apple cider vinegar is believed to support digestion & enhance gut health. Research indicates that its acidic nature aids in the breakdown of food & stimulates the production of digestive enzymes. Mix a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with warm water & drink it before meals for maximum benefits.

10. Lemon Balm for Anxiety Reduction:

Lemon balm, an herb from the mint family, has been used historically to relieve anxiety & promote calmness. Scientific studies indicate that Lemon Balm contains compounds that have anti-anxiety effects. Prepare Lemon Balm tea by steeping the leaves in hot water. Add a teaspoon of honey for sweetness & enjoy. Don't have time to make some tea before the next family gathering; try the Namaste roller blend. I created this one for my anxiety issues & I do not leave my home without it!

These 10 home remedies, backed by scientific research, offer simple & effective solutions for common ailments. It is important to remember that while these remedies can be beneficial, they should not replace professional medical advice. Consulting with a healthcare provider is crucial, especially if you have underlying health conditions or are taking medications. Incorporating these remedies into your daily routine may provide you & your family with natural alternatives to support your well-being.

Stay happy, stay healthy, yall!
