Picture yourself sinking into a tub filled with warm water. Enveloped in a cloud of soothing fragrance that rolls your senses into a state of deep relaxation. Bath time is not merely a mundane routine but a precious opportunity to nurture your well-being & give yourself a little bit of self-care physically & mentally. With the popularity of essential oils, it's crucial to ensure that we approach their use with knowledge & caution. In this guide, we will unravel the secrets to harnessing the power of essential oils in your bath while prioritizing safety and enjoyment. Join us today as we delve into the art of creating a blissful and rejuvenating bath experience one drop at a time.
Let's start with a few basics. Essential oils are highly concentrated, being approximately 100 times more potent than the plant from which they are derived. Although their natural, improper use can still pose risks. It is important to avoid using essential oils "neat", meaning without dilution, unless you are under the supervision of a certified medical professional. When added to your bath water essential oils do not disperse due to their molecules are too small. This causes the oils to float on the surface in globs. This means that all the oil will come into direct contact with your skin, including more sensitive areas potentially leading to irritation. Moreover, certain oils can be toxic when undiluted & many are known irritants.
So, what can you do to ensure safe usage? You can use carrier oils, Epsom salt, or even a bubble bath to dilute your oils. When incorporating essential oils into your bath it is recommended to use no more than a total of five drops for a full tub. Dilute essential oils by adding them to your carrier oil, bath salts, or bubble bath & stir the mixture thoroughly to ensure everything is incorporated completely & then add you're amazing new creation to your bath water.
One of my personal favorite oils for bath time is lavender, known for its calming & relaxation properties, particularly beneficial before bed. In times of illness such as flu or cold, I highly recommend our Breathe Blend, which combines eucalyptus & various mint oils to help open your airways to help you breathe through the crud. Remember it is crucial to conduct your own research & follow these simple guidelines for a safe & enjoyable self-care routine. My favorite blend to use in your tub for relaxation is below.
Please note that it is important to refrain from using essential oils and baths with children or pregnant women, as their bodies may respond differently by adhering to these guidelines and conducting further research, you can safely incorporate essential oils into your self-care routine.
